Automatic Reverse Pulse Desulfation Charger are completely different from conventional chargers you may find on the market. The reverse pulse technology helps reducing battery internal impedance while charging.
The battery gassing amount is also only 10%-14% of that on battery charged by normal battery. Temperature raise of battery while charging is also greatly lowered.
Automatic reverse pulse desulfation charger applies advanced charge algorithm. The reverse pulse will maintain and equalize battery cells during the entire charge process. Unlike normal chargers, which equalize cells, if the function exists, only by increasing charge voltage after floating phase. Ultipower reverse pulse chargers will life the cell voltage which are lower than average and lower the ones higher, thus avoiding higher voltage which bring hazard of over-charge and gassing.
The Basic Charge Stages for Automatic Reverse Pulse Desulfation Chargers:
1. Initial testing
The charger generates reverse pulse to check the current receptivity of battery.
2. Soft Charge
Starting phase for charging. The starting phase continues until the battery’s terminal voltage has risen over a preset level. At this point, charging goes into the bulk phase. If the terminal voltage has not reached the preset level within a preset time, charging is suspended. The error mode is indicated. If a large battery is charged that has been severely discharged, it may be necessary to restart the charger after a preset time.
3. Bulk Charge
Primary charging where approximately 80% of the charging takes place. The charger delivers maximum current until the terminal voltage has risen to the preset level. UltiPower chargers will monitor the battery voltage. Bulk current will be transferred to enable efficient charge if the battery voltage is under the gassing voltage.
4. Absorption charge – high voltage constant
Voltage is kept at the preset level. During this phase, the current is gradually reduced. Gassing voltage may be exceeded in this phase. UltiPower chargers will increase the amplitude and frequency of reverse pulse to ensure the minimal gassing amount.
Charging is suspended for a short period and the battery voltage is measured. If it falls rapidly, the battery is probably faulty. Charging is suspended and an error is indicated.
6. Float charge – low voltage constant
Voltage has dropped to preset level with controlled current.
7. Replenishing charge – pulse
State of charge varies between 95% and 100%. The pulse charge is safely replenishing the last 5% of the battery’s charge in a minimum amount of time.
The battery receives a pulse when the voltage sinks, keeping the battery in good shape when it is not being used. If the battery is charged and/or the battery’s terminal voltage drops, the charger starts a charge pulse until the voltage has reached the preset level. The charge pulse is then interrupted and the cycle is repeated as long as the charger is the pulse maintenance phase. If the terminal voltage drops even lower, the charger automatically reverts to the beginning of the charging curve.
